As a real estate agent, Kelley Perry has always had a passion for bringing life back to properties that could use a little extra love.

Now she has directed that passion to a project all her own, as she opened up Selenite Tea House about two weeks ago. The venture offers traditional tea service, but can also play host to small events on its 18 acre property at 160 Monks Road in Saxonburg.

“The house I bought was built in 1875,” Perry said. “I renovated that and kept as much of the original charm as I could. It's a European inspired interior tearoom. Then we also have the outdoor grounds and gardens. It's a beautiful spot.”

The tea service experience must be booked online in advance to coming with no walk ins, Perry said.

The same can be said for events. Perry said the business caters to “small- to medium-sized events” such as baby and bridal showers.

“Everyone has said it’s really breathtaking with regards to the vibe and the facility itself,” Perry said. “It is so away from everything else, while still being reachable. You have that very rural, escape feel.”

Her inspiration for the theme of the venue came from her experiences traveling through the Scandinavian regions of Europe.

“I really wanted to blend the tradition of afternoon tea from the English and Irish cultures with different Scandinavian concepts that idolize the nature element,” Perry said.

There are no set hours for tea service, and those interested in visiting or to schedule an event can book a reservation by calling in or booking it online at www.seleniteteahouse.com.
