Annette Elaine (Fencil) Jacob passed away in Harrisburg on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

She was born in Butler on April 16, 1946, to Bertha Annette (Gibson) and William Henry Fencil. She lived in Illinois, Pittsburgh and West Virginia, then returned home to Butler in 1980 to live the rest of her life.

She graduated from Butler County Community College magna cum laude with an associate degree in business administration and went on to complete her bachelor’s degree in communications summa cum laude from Slippery Rock College in 1988, when she was awarded Senior Woman of the Year.

She was the beloved mother of Dawn Michelle Jacob of Lyndhurst, N.J., Matthew N. Jacob (Brenda Wagner) of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Robert E. Jacob (Ginene Buss Jacob) of Butler; and the proud grandmother of Zachary N. Jacob of Mechanicsburg. She also leaves behind her much-loved niece and lifelong cohort, Angela Elter; nephew, James Elter (Sharon Rennick) of Flemington, N.J.; and Marie (Elter) Krizner (Mark) of Weston, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her sons, David Garrison Jacob and Paul Joseph Jacob; and her sisters, Maureen, Carol and Nancy.

Annette had a lifelong love of reading and music and devoted many years to the primary Sunday school class at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints. She also enjoyed dancing and had a brief stage career as a dancer, and was editor-in-chief of her collegiate newspaper and yearbook.

JACOB — Visitation for Annette Elaine (Fencil) Jacob, who died Wednesday, May 21, 2025, will be from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, May 27, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler, with a memorial service to follow at noon. Private interment to be held after.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Butler County Public Library at www.butlerlibrary.info/help-the-library.
