Keith Robert Hyatt, 50, of Slippery Rock, Slippery Rock Township, Butler County, formerly of Sharpsburg, passed away at Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh at 8:46 p.m. Thursday, following a year of illness and complications from leukemia.

He was born in Pittsburgh on Nov. 21, 1963, to Roy Tipton Hyatt and Ruth Quesenberry Hyatt.

He married Linda Marie Sweazen on May 16, 1987.

Keith graduated from Fox Chapel High School in 1982.

He was a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran and received a Purple Heart and Combat Action Ribbon.

Keith was a U.S. Postal Service employee working at the National Distribution Center, Bulk Mail Center, for 31 years in Warrendale.

He was a member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Slippery Rock.

He loved spending time with his family and was active with the Slippery Rock Baseball Association as a board member and coach. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and traveling. He was a member of the Boyers Gun Club.

Survivors include his wife, Linda M.; his four sons, Ryan K., Jordan M., Collin M. and Nathan D., all at home in Slippery Rock; his mother, Ruth Hyatt of Titusville, Fla.; his two sisters, Ruby Dann of Titusville, Fla., and Debbie Hyatt of Virginia; his three brothers, John “Sonny” of Sharpsburg, Fla., Doug of St. Marys, Pa., and Denver of Monroeville, and his grandson, Asher.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Hyatt — A Mass of Christian burial for Keith Robert Hyatt, who died Thursday, April 24, 2014, will be at the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 670 South Main Street, Slippery Rock, at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Kevin Poecking presiding. Family will receive friends at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
