Evans City hosts annual Lace Up for the Library 5K
More than 100 participants laced up their shoes for the Patti J. Nelson Foundation’s ninth annual Lace Up for the Library 5K and 1-Mile Run/Walk on Sunday, May 18, in Evans City.
All proceeds benefited the Evans City Public Library, which serves Evans City, Callery, Forward Township and nearby communities with community programming, internet access and other educational resources.
With government funding covering only half its operating costs, the library relies on community events and the ongoing support of the foundation, a nonprofit that was established in 2015 to honor Patti’s legacy of service and learning.
After the race, attendees enjoyed a celebration complete with an awards ceremony, raffle baskets, door prizes, a 50/50 drawing and a complimentary lunch.
