BlueSox get sweep on road

The BlueSox are heading into the Prospect League All-Star Break on a high note.

Butler got two solid pitching performances in a doubleheader sweep at Champion City (Ohio) Sunday.

Brett Sullivan pitched eight shutout innings, giving up just two hits and striking out four and Zac LaNeve drove in Ryan Uhl with the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth for a 1-0 win in Game 1.

Butler High graduate Mick Fennell tossed a seven-inning complete game in the 8-1 win in Game 2.

Fennell only gave up four hits in the victory.

Stephen Sada and Collin Massanelli each had a pair of hits and a RBI in the nightcap to pace the BlueSox (21-14, 6-1), who enter the break in first place in the East Division.

Taylor Schmidt also had a big game for Butler with a single and two RBI.

Butler has now won two straight after suffering a 3-1 setback to Danville at Kelly Automotive Park Saturday.

Butler High graduate Cody Herald hit the first home run of the season for the BlueSox in the bottom of the seventh inning for Butler’s lone run.
