Miners beat BlueSox, 7-5

BECKLEY, W.Va. — The road woes continue for Butler.

The BlueSox banged out 13 hits, but so did West Virginia as Butler lost its second straight game to the Miners, 7-5, in Prospect League action Tuesday night.

Five BlueSox players had multi-hit games, led by Butler High graduate Cody Herald, whose two hits raised his team-leading average to .322.

Butler High grad Mick Fennell had a double.

Mars grad David Bednar got the start for the BlueSox (23-18, 8-5), but lasted just three innings. The right-hander gave up four runs on six hits. He struck out four, but also walked three to fall to 3-2 this season.

Butler is off today before traveling to Lorain Thursday night.
