Murphy now 11-0 as Millersville wins
Chris Murphy improved to 11-0 on the season with a complete-game effort Thursday night, leading Millersville to an 8-4 win over Seton Hill in the PSAC Tournament at Kelly Automotive Park.
The victory kept Millersville (40-9) unbeaten in the tournament. Murphy struck out eight and allowed five hits.
Tyler Rudolph homered and had three RBI for the Marauders while David Summerfield and Dan Neff had two hits each.
Nick Sell homered, doubled and had three RBI for Seton Hill (40-10). Butler graduate Cody Herald was hitless in the game.
California 9, Shippensburg 3 — The Vulcans (25-21) remained alive as Butler graduate Mick Fennell went 4-for-5 and scored three runs. He pitched two scoreless innings to close out the victory.
Winning pitcher Jack Dennis struck out seven over seven innings. Matt Peters had a homer, double, single and three RBI, David Marcus two singles and three RBI.
Nick Spangler and Jimmy Spanos doubled and singled for Shippensburg (25-25), which was eliminated.
Mercyhurst 14, West Chester 2 — Freeport graduate Ryan Siegel homered, singled and had two RBI as the Lakers (33-7) stayed alive. Angel Martinez had four hits and scored three runs, Giancarlo Saia a double, three singles and two RBI.
Austin Alonge and Hank Morrison had three RBI each as Mercyhurst supported winning pitcher Jon Klein with a 21-hit attack.
Matt Petrizzi had two hits for eliminated West Chester (26-13).
