High school roundup: North Catholic boys tennis defeated in PIAA tourney; Slippery Rock baseball notches win
North Catholic’s PIAA Class 2A boys tennis tournament run ended with a 5-0 quarterfinal loss to District 3’s Conrad Weiser at Hershey Racquet Club on Friday.
The No. 1 doubles clash between Trojans freshmen Jake Sinclair and Paddy McCabe and Conrad Weiser’s Owen Hunt and Josh Tharp lasted three sets, with the latter tandem winning 4-6, 6-0, 6-0.
Baseball
Isaac McCandless, Bryce Covert, Casey Darr and Johnny Petras combined to allow three hits and an earned run as Slippery Rock downed Mercer 3-1.
Jacob Kunsman and Carr each had a pair of singles.
