BCC divers take 2nd

UPPER ST. CLAIR — Butler Country Club’s divers placed second out of seven teams at the annual Club Diving Championships held recently at St. Clair Country Club.

BCC tallied 32 points in the competition, second to South Hills Country Club’s 36.

Ben Lowery, an incoming freshman at Knoch, won the boys 14-17 age group for BCC. Sevryn Napora placed second in the girls 11-13 division and Ty Misitis placed second in the girls 10-under age group.

“Ben only dives about six weeks during the year, all in the summer,” BCC diving coach Ken Bedford said. “He didn’t do as well as he would like in this meet, but he has performed consistently well over the years.”

Lowery won his sixth club title overall and his fourth in the past five years. He will be joining Knoch High School’s swim team this year.

Third-place finishers for Butler Country Club were Amelia Walls in girls 10-under and Ary Napora in girls 11-13.

Other placers for BCC were Zach Misitis (fourth in boys 14-17), Blake Benco (fifth in boys 11-13), Lydia Walls (sixth in girls 14-17) and Emma West (sixth in girls 11-13). Avery Benco also competed.

Butler Country Club had five boys and five girls in the competition. There were 40 divers competing overall.
