North Catholic opened the PIAA Class 2A boys tennis tournament in dominating fashion Tuesday. The Trojans downed Carrick 4-0, winning 6-0, 6-0 on all four courts after the District 8 champion forfeited No. 1 doubles.

Justin Garvey, Alex Weber and Alex Lopez Foubert were all singles winners, while Brennen Lord and Jackson Schlegel had a doubles victory.

The win comes a week after the Trojans won their first WPIAL title.

North Catholic moves on to the quarterfinals at Hershey Racquet Club at 11 a.m. Friday, where it will play Conrad Weiser, which beat Lewisburg 4-1.

“We’re very excited to make it to Hershey for the first time,” Trojans coach Sean Malone said. “We’ve lost in the first round of the state playoffs four years in a row, so it means a lot to finally make it to the final eight of the state.”
