June Davis

June Rosella Cooper Davis, “Juma,” 89, of Slippery Rock, passed away at Qualify Life Services — Mercer on Friday, May 9, 2025, following a short illness.

She was born in Prospect on June 26, 1935, to George Earl Cooper and Wilma Annabelle Taylor Cooper Kniess.

She married William Jonathan Davis on June 24, 1950, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 2006.

She was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Worth Township, and was an avid artist, reader and gardener. In art, she was talented with oils, watercolors, charcoal and pencil drawings. Along with being an avid reader, she read to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a gardener, she found great joy in planting flowers and vegetables and in canning. She and her husband, Bill, made sure their kids always had whatever they needed. Her family was most important to her. She taught her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren resilience and that “Can’t never did a thing.”

Survivors include daughters, Leslie (Dennis) Colosimo of Slippery Rock, Brenda (Richard) Doerr of Dover, Fla., Karen (Steven) Connell, Kimberly (Michael) Conroy and Elizabeth Barnette, all of Slippery Rock; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Davis; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two sisters; Deborah (Joel) Cunningham and Beth (Bruce) Miller.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; stepfather, Robert Kniess; husband; son, Richard; grandson, Mark Massella; brother, Gary Cooper; and three great-grandsons.

DAVIS — Family of June Rosella Cooper Davis, who died Friday, May 9, 2025, will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.

Friends also will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Zion Baptist Church, 148 Currie Road, Slippery Rock, with Pastor Thomas Meling, retired pastor of Zion Baptist Church, presiding.

Interment will be at Zion Baptist Cemetery in Worth Township.

Memorial contributions may be given to Zion Baptist Church.
