Anna Galassi
Anna L. Galassi, 89, of Karns City (Roseville), died Monday, May 5, 2025, surrounded by family, at her home.
Born March 21, 1936, in Perry Township, she was the daughter of John L. and Mary Carrie (Gershak) Barger.
Anna graduated from Karns City High School. During her teenage years, she played the Hawaiian guitar on WISR Radio. She spent her career as a homemaker and worked as a cook at various area restaurants, including Plaza Pantry.
On Oct. 5, 1963, she married Carino “Carl” Galassi. Together, they shared a loving marriage and set an example of devotion for their family. They loved animals and often could be heard bantering in the kitchen about each other’s cooking.
Anna was a Catholic and a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Bradys Bend. She was a hardworking wife and mother who never did anything for herself but, instead, gave herself to her family. She loved baking pies and visiting those who were ill, lost or lonesome.
Surviving are three children, Susan (Kevin) Reeves of Kaylor, Domenic (Lorie) Galassi of Kittanning and Mary Ann (Mark) Carlson of Bradys Bend; seven grandsons, Kevin (Kayla) Reeves Jr., Christopher (Stephanie) Reeves, Matthew (Logan) Reeves, Lucas (Wren) Galassi, Benjamin Galassi, Logan Carlson and Spencer (Alexis) Carlson; one great-granddaughter, Zoey Simmers Reeves; and one great-grandson, Carino Reeves.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, John Barger; and one sister, Doris Hice.
The Galassi family would like to thank Anna’s neighbors, Glen, Cindi, Lisa and Eric and her dear friend, Mary Ann, for their care and dedication. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
The world has lost a bright light full of love, compassion and acceptance. We take comfort in knowing she has been reunited with our dad, whom she longed for. “God bless you, sweetheart!” is what she always said. God bless you, mom. You always will be loved and missed. May each of us strive to be as wonderful as you.
