A Butler man who was detained by the FBI for his alleged threats against President Donald Trump and other government and immigration enforcement officials has been indicted.

Shawn Monper, 32, was indicted on eight counts after making threats toward the president and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials on his YouTube channel “Mr. Satan” between Jan. 15 and April 5, according to acting United States attorney Troy Rivetti in a Friday, May 2, announcement.

The Butler Township Police Department assisted the FBI in the April 9 apprehension of Monper and seized three handguns he purchased in February and March 2025. The court found Monper was a danger to the community at his April 14 preliminary and detention hearings, and he’s being held in Butler County Prison.

“I want to applaud the outstanding and courageous investigative work of the FBI and the Butler Township Police Department, who thankfully identified and apprehended this individual before he could carry out his threats against President Trump’s life and the lives of other innocent Americans,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said in April 11 news release.

If Monper is found guilty, he may be sentenced up to 10 years in prison and fined up to $250,000 on each count.

The FBI National Threat Operations Section was informed of the threats April 8 and found Monper obtained a firearms permit shortly after Trump’s inauguration.

Monper made comments using his YouTube account, such as “I’m going to assassinate him myself” toward Trump, “ICE are terrorist people, we need to start killing them” and “Eventually im (sic) going to do a mass shooting.”

Assistant United States attorney Brendan J. McKenna is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.
