Emerick D. “Izzy” “Sonny” Isovitsch, 86, of Butler, went to be with the Lord late Thursday morning, May 1, 2025, at Newhaven Court at Clearview, while in the presence of his loving wife and family.

Emerick was born in Butler on Oct. 11, 1938. He was the son of the late Emerick R. and Mary Monteleone Isovitsch.

He was a graduate of Butler Area High School and was a radioman in the U.S. Navy, having served from 1956 to 1959, and retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve in 1962. Izzy was employed at Armco in Butler for many years and retired in 2006.

He was a member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Butler. He enjoyed gambling, hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, bowling and spending time at his camp in Kellettville. Sonny was a member of the American Legion of Butler, the East Butler Fireman’s Club, Happy Hunters Sportsman’s Club and the Fryburg Sportsman’s Club.

He is survived by his wife, Judy A. Osche Isovitsch, whom he married at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler on June 9, 1962. Also surviving are three children, Jeffery L. Isovitsch and his wife, Becky, and Stephen J. Isovitsch and his wife, Kerry L., all of Tionesta, and Lisa A. Geibel and her husband, Cletus, of Butler; his grandchildren, Kirsten Kelminsky (Justin) of Chicora, Dillon Isovitsch and Alice Isovitsch of Tionesta, Samuel Geibel (Abbygail), Elijah Geibel (Erin), Dominic Geibel, all of Butler; as well as seven great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Barbara Isovitsch of Florida, Robert and Karen Isovitsch, Donald and Judy Isovitsch, and Carl and Janet Isovitsch, all of Butler; his best friend and cousin Dave Monteleone; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

ISOVITSCH — Family and those closest to Emerick D. “Izzy” “Sonny” Isovitsch, who died Thursday, May 1, 2025, will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at HILE FUNERAL HOME OF CHICORA, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, 210 St. Wendelin Road, Butler, with the Rev. Matt McClain, pastor of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, officiating.

Military honors will be accorded by members of the Lyndora American Legion Post 778, Butler VFW Post 249 and Harmony-Evans City VFW Post 499, at the church following Mass.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.
