Eleanor Gilbert

Eleanor Ruth Gilbert, 92, of Renfrew died on June 9 at Concordia at the Orchard in Butler after a long battle with cancer.

She was born April 16, 1920, in East Brady. She was the daughter of the late Leyshon and Hazel (Foster) Jones.

She is survived by one daughter, Diane L. Gilbert of Lawndale, Calif.; one son, David L. Gilbert of Bedford N.H., his wife, Catherine, and their three children, Stephanie, Patrick and Allison.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynford W. Gilbert, who died Nov. 16, 2008, and her first husband, Oliver Berg Elder, who died Sept. 27, 1944.

Eleanor worked as an executive secretary for various defense contractors during her career. After retiring, she volunteered as a docent at the Richard M. Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, Calif., for six years. Eleanor was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Butler.

GILBERT — Visitation for Eleanor Ruth Gilbert, who died Saturday, June 9, 2012, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First English Lutheran Church, 241 N.
