Jessie Myers

Jessie Jane Burk Myers, 89, of Grove Manor Nursing Home in Grove City and formerly of Slippery Rock, passed away at Grove Manor on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021.

She was born in Worth Township, Butler County, on Feb. 17, 1932, the daughter to James Perry Wimer and Nellie Samantha Burk Wimer.

Jessie married Ullin John Myers Jr. in May of 1956, and he preceded her in death on April 23, 1986.

She received an associate degree in Pittsburgh where she had training in court stenography.

Jessie retired from the Office of Personnel Management where she worked with the investigative body as a typist and clerk.

She loved baking, reading and crocheting. She was a member, elder and treasurer of Friendship Presbyterian Church in Worth Township, formerly Wolf Creek Presbyterian Church where she also served as a secretary to the session.

Survivors include a son, James E. (Kathy) Myers of Slippery Rock; Vicki (Thomas) Stewart of Grove City; Beverly (Bart) Taylor of Grove City; Peggy (Dean) Anthony of East Berlin, Pa.; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Ida Hilliard.

Myers — The family of Jessie Jane Burk Myers, who died Friday, Nov. 12, 2021, will gather and observe a private service at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2021, with the Rev. Diane Whitman of Friendship Presbyterian Church at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.

Interment will follow immediately at Wolf Creek Cemetery.
