Jack H. Sankey
Jack Howard Sankey, 81, of Plain Grove Road in Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County, died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday at Jameson Healthcare- North after a brief illness.
Born in Plain Grove Township, June 16, 1924, he was the son of John Clayton and Grace R. Brenneman Sankey.
Mr. Sankey was a lifelong, self-employed farmer. He also owned and operated the Sankey Feed Mill in Plain Grove Township for 50 years.
He was a lifetime member of the Plain Grove Presbyterian Church, where he served on various committees including the trustees and the South Plain Grove Cemetery Association.
He also belonged to the PennAg Industries Association of Pennsylvania and the Western Pennsylvania Seed Dealers' Association.
He greatly enjoyed his family, friends and traveling.
Surviving are his wife, Pauline "Polly". Rodgers Sankey, whom he Aug. 15, 1944; three daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Larry Wagar of Lima, Ohio, Debra and Pat Bonasera of Hermitage and Jacqueline and Tedd Rhodes of Gettysburg; and a sister, Lucille Vargo and her husband, Louis, of Volant.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald, who died in 1969; and an infant sister.
<B>SANKEY </B>— Friends of Jack Howard Sankey, who died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
