Police: Woman hits vehicle, flees
ADAMS TWP — A 27-year-old woman is facing numerous charges for allegedly causing an accident Monday while driving under the influence, with children in her van.
Natalie M. Marchelletta, of Moon Township, Allegheny County, around 3 p.m. Monday allegedly left the scene of an accident at the intersection of Route 228 and Three Degree Road.
Witnesses reported seeing a Honda van northbound on Three Degree Road run the red light, hit another vehicle and continue driving westbound on Route 228, according to court records.
The other vehicle was driven by Emily Cunningham, who was not injured, according to the report, though her car was undrivable.
Marchelletta was pulled over by Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police officers on Route 228.
She told officers that she had just dropped off a 14-year-old girl at swim practice. She had a boy and a girl, both younger than 10, in the van with her.
When asked about the accident, she told officers that she suffers from narcolepsy, for which she takes medication, according to court records.
She allegedly failed a field sobriety test and was taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry hospital to have her blood drawn. A background check revealed that she had two previous DUI convictions.
She is charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of children, accident involving damage, DUI and several other traffic violations. She is in Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail and is scheduled for a public hearing in district court next week.
The defendant who identified herself as an actress in court has appeared in the movies "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl," and ""Not Fade Away," according to various internet sites.
