EVANS CITY — The Providence Plantation, 300 Textor Hill Road, recently released its 2009 schedule of events.

Tours, music, presentations and period candlelight dinners are planned. Cost for these events is $25 per person, or $15 for those younger than 12. Reservations are required a week in advance.

Topics include:

• How the Indian Trade began in the Upper Ohio Valley, 4 to 7 p.m., March 7• The Traders: French & Indian, 5 to 8 p.m., April 4• Ohio Indians in a Land Between, 5 to 8 p.m., May 2.

• The Ohio Company and the Land: Igniting Conflict between Three Nations, 5 to 8 p.m., Sept. 12• French Invasion and Savagery against the Indians, 4 to 7 p.m., Oct. 3• Washington's First Mission, 4 to 7 p.m., Nov. 7• Frontier Family Christmas Celebration, 4 to 7 p.m., Dec. 12.In the summer, Open Gate Tourism will be conducted the second and third Saturdays of each month from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $6.Additionally, tours can be scheduled weekdays and weekends for groups of 20 or more. Cost is $6 per person. Programs also can be arranged for schools, elder education, historical organizations and Scout groups.The annual "Walk with George Washington on the Venango Path to Murdering Town" is planned for 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 26.
