Storms leave some county residents without power, cause damage
High winds and rain swept over Butler County several times today.
In communities from Eau Claire to Slippery Rock to Renfrew, power was knocked out to about 3,200 people, according to the Allegheny Power Web site.
The biggest problems were in Butler and Portersville where there was trouble with the main line. Other locations reported problems with the overhead wires.
Electricity was expected to be restored by 8 a.m. Thursday, according to Allegheny Power.
A number of trees toppled over from the high wind.
A tree fell over on Whitestown Road in Meridian and landed on a house.
A tree on Brady Street also fell over onto a house.
Fudoli's Music and Repair Center, 142 S. Main St., lost 16 metal panels from its 1950s facade, said owner Ron Fudoli. The panels destroyed the shop's awning, but no one was hurt.
