Rep. Kelly leads reintroduction of Heartbeat Protection Act
U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-16th, is leading the reintroduction of the Heartbeat Protection Act, which would prohibit abortions from taking place when a heartbeat is detected. The bill is co-led by Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., and has 31 co-sponsors.
Kelly also introduced this bill in the 117th and 118th Congress, but the bill did not make it to a vote in either Congress.
The timing of the reintroduction of the bill coincides with the annual March for Life event in Washington, D.C., which was held last week.
