The Butler County Bureau of Elections started counting write-in votes from the general election on Friday, but the count won’t be completed until sometime this week.

Since there were no candidates in about 20 borough and township races on Tuesday’s ballot, the write-in votes could determine who will fill those positions. Chicora Borough Council is an example. No one appeared on the ballot for three open council positions, but 407 write-in votes were cast. The write-in vote count started Friday and will be completed by the end of this week, said Shari Brewer, director of the Butler County Bureau of Elections.
