High school roundup: Butler girls hoops thumps McDowell; Mars wrestling 4-1 at Hampton Duals

Amelia McMichael continued her strong start to the season with 21 points, guiding Butler girls basketball to a 57-32 win over Erie McDowell on Saturday.

The Golden Tornado (4-2) ended non-section play by storming out to a 24-5 first-quarter lead. Maline McElroy chipped in 10 points to the cause.

Seneca Valley 49, Freedom (Va.) 33 — Natalie Hambly scored 24 points, including six 3-pointers, to lead the Raiders (3-3) to a win in the She Got Game Classic, in Washington, D.C. Gracie Cato scored 15.

Seneca Valley 49, Conwell-Egan 42 — The Raiders wrapped up the weekend Sunday with a second win at the showcase. Hambly scored another 16 points off four more treys, and Cato chipped in 12 points and Reece McFadden 10.
