Mercer County man jailed, charged in stabbing at fight
A Mercer County man was arrested for allegedly stabbing an Indiana County man during an agreed-upon fight early Saturday morning.
Garrett Arnold, 21, of Greenville was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment for allegedly stabbing Rodger Bone, 21, of Shelocta following the incident at 137 Beatty School Road in Perry Township, Mercer County, at 1 a.m., state police said.
Bone and witnesses told police that the two men had been exchanging hated text messages throughout the evening and agreed to meet to fight, according to reports. Both men arrived with acquaintances and began to fight, police said.
During the fight, Arnold allegedly stabbed Bone in the back several times with a knife, police said.
Arnold and his acquaintances fled, and Bone's acquaintances drove him to UPMC Greenville, where he was being treated for multiple stab wounds, according to investigators. Bone was released from the hospital.
Arnold remains in the Mercer County Jail awaiting arraignment after he was medically cleared for injuries he sustained in the fight, authorities said.
