Chicora Medical Center
There is always something exciting happening at Chicora Medical Center and 2004 and early 2005 certainly followed suit.
New resident room furniture for the rehabilitative unit was purchased, including the addition of all electric beds. The independence that electric beds provide was a welcoming change for the facility's short-term rehab residents.
In 2004, Chicora Medical Center also began using the services of in-house therapists instead of contracting therapy to a third-party company.
The resulting stability in therapists and integration of therapy into the overall rehabilitation program has greatly improved the quality and quantity of therapy that the residents receive.
Early 2005 brought the opening of Memory Lane, Chicora Medical Center's Alzheimer's Unit.
Hearing the community's call for specialized dementia care, Chicora Medical Center unveiled the nursing-level secured unit which has an enclosed courtyard and newly renovated dining and recreation area. Individualized programming and customized activities cater to the specific needs of each dementia residents.
Memory Lane is accepting new residents.
Chicora Medical Center is extremely proud of its recent accomplishments.
