Marburger Dairy
With more than 160 years of farming, and five generations of experience, the Marburger Dairy label has come to signify quality and diversification.
To accommodate its recent growth, Marburger installed a new 12,000-gallon milk silo in the fall of 2005. In 2003, they finished construction on a new production center, which bottles all milk and beverage products and allows for expansion of all the company's product lines.
Marburger is revered throughout the industry for producing premium buttermilk. The company is proud to announce it achieved 1.1 million unit sales of buttermilk in 2003. The buttermilk is well-known throughout the eastern United States.
Although chocolate milk is the consumer's favorite product, Marburger's has also seen a rise in popularity of its expanded iced tea products. The company packages pint-size bottles of regular, cherry, mountain berry, lime, fruit punch, peach, raspberry, kiwi-strawberry, orange and a diet/sugar-free product.
The first day of operations in 1938 saw three cases of quart bottles. Today, the dairy processes more than 100,000 gallons of milk weekly.
That includes nearly 4,000 homes in the north Pittsburgh area and 2,000 schools, stores, hospitals and restaurants. Marburger Dairy also services accounts between Erie and the West Virginia border.
Martin Marburger and his children — James, Margaret Wearing and Rita Reifenstein — manage the farm and daily business operations.
Mr. Marburger's grandchildren — Carrie, Craig and Kurt — also have recently joined the family business.
