Preservation classes slated for July 22
Have you thought about growing your own garden produce or purchasing fruits or vegetables from a local farm this summer?
What about finding a pick-your-own fruit and/or vegetable farm and then freezing or canning the fresh produce for later use in family meals?
Would you like to know more about how to use a pressure canner?
You can learn the basics and how-to of home food preservation by attending upcoming classes July 22 from 1 to 3 p.m. and again at 6 to 8 p.m. at Butler's Penn State Extension Office.
Registration is required by calling 814-849-7361. The fee for the class is $20 per person.
Free pressure canner testing offeredIf you use a pressure canner for home food preservation, Penn State Extension is offering free testing of dial gauges for accuracy.You will need to bring the lid with the attached dial gauge to the Extension Office located closest to you.Calling the local Extension office to schedule an appointment is recommended.
