Motherhood journal finally becomes book
Former Butler resident Georgia Sawhook thought up the title for her book more than 20 years ago. Then all she had to do was write the book.
She started the formal process toward publication of "Potty Training to Puberty — The Pits!!: With Hugs Along the Way" by keeping a journal.
"A woman in our church said, 'You're always saying you're going to write a book,' She actually gave me the journal," said Sawhook, now of Fairfield, Ohio.
"I had to do a little bit at a time — the dedication, the introduction."
Celebrating her 39th wedding anniversary today, the former Georgia Oczypok has been a pastor's wife for almost 30 years. She and her husband, Tom, have seven children. The youngest is age 21, and there are currently 13 grandchildren. The next one is due in December."Until I got everyone through puberty, I honestly didn't have time (to write)," Sawhook said. "I wrote 'A Day in the Life, A Mother's Memory' decades ago. I was going to submit the story to a magazine, but I never did."Among her other activities are a ministry to pastor's wives and demonstrating Ukrainian Easter eggs."My plan was to start (the book) at the beginning, which I did, being the mom of a crew — budgeting, menu planning and meal planning."The book includes observations, lessons learned and even recipes for feeding a large group.Copies of the book are on order and will be coming soon to Borders Express at Clearview Mall, according to a store representative. A book signing in the area may by planned for the spring.
