FIRE AT THE KOFC — Members of the Lyndora Volunteer Fire Company try to extinguish early morning flames pouring from the Knights of Columbus Hall, 234 E. North St., Butler, on Feb. 9, 1970. Butler and South Butler firemen also helped combat the fire, which caused an estimated $150,000 to $200,000 in damage. The fire was discovered by next-door neighbor Mrs. Charles Still, who noticed light from the flames coming into her bedroom. She and her husband called 911 and began alerting neighbors of the danger. The blaze, which took two hours to extinguish, was the third major Butler fire in two weeks.
