Family Pathways will host training for its new Kids First Initiative at 6 p.m. March 6.

The initiative seeks to promote early childhood social and emotional development, and prevent and treat mental health disorders in children.

The program will provide assistance to parents of children age 3 and younger in danger of expulsion from their child care facility.

Therapists will also be made available to observe children in the classroom and at home to determine possible solutions for behavioral problems.

Family Pathways also hopes to extend the program to aid children in the transition from preschool to kindergarten.
