PITTSBURGH - UPMC Health Plan is offering a zero premium Medicare plan and is reducing premiums on other plans it offers, including prescription drug plans.

UPMC for Life Basic is now available for residents in Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Fayette, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland counties who are enrolled in Medicare parts A and B, and who continue to pay their Part B premium.

Plan subscribers pay no additional premiums. Before, the no-premium plan was available only to Allegheny County residents.

Effective March 1, the $35 monthly premium will be eliminated and members also will se reductions in co-payments for outpatient mental health and inpatient substance abuse.
