The Texas Rangers have called up Seneca Valley graduate Jason Conti from Oklahoma City, their Class AAA affiliate.

Conti replaces outfielder Laynce Nix, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday.

Conti struck out in his only plate appearance in a 5-4 loss to Cincinnati Tuesday. On Wednesday, Conti went 0-for-2 plus a walk in the Rangers' 7-4 loss to the Reds.

He was batting .342 with four home runs and 36 RBI at Oklahoma.

Cameron Peterson of Grove City placed fourth at the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association's Boys Championships Tuesday at the Youghiogheny Country Club.Peterson fired a 38-42-80 to place fourth, three shots behind William Miller of McMurray.In the WPGA Senior Amateur at Hannastown Golf Club Tuesday, Dr. George Bilowick of Butler placed ninth with a score of 157.
