Due to more rain on Monday, the Butler County American Legion championship series between East Butler and Butler Township has been rescheduled.

The best-of-three series will be played at 6 p.m. today through Thursday at Pullman Park.

In the event of rain today or Wednesday, a game will be played Thursday at 6 p.m., and, if necessary, the third game of the series will be played immediately following the 6 p.m. contest.

The winner of the series will represent the county in the Region 7 playoffs, which begin next Tuesday in Ebensburg.

Steve Ace of Parker won the Stock and Modified divisions during Shadetree Speedway's lawn mower races Sunday.Ace was followed by Rich Connors of Butler and Rick Myers of New Kensington in the Stock division and by Mike Miller of Chicora and Eddie Wade of Boyers in the Modified division.In Outlaw Stocks, Matt Thompson of Ellwood City was the winner, followed by Dave Lipscomb of Fenelton. Miller won the Super Modified ahead of Ace and Kevin Walker of Saxonburg.In the Kart division, Nick Curzi of Butler was first, Lenny Porter of Chicora second and Christina Thompson was third.

Stephanie O'Toole, 9, of Butler will compete in the U.S. Swimming Eastern Long Course Championship Aug. 10 through 14 in Buffalo, N.Y.O'Toole won the 50-meter breaststroke in 40.13 seconds in the 10-and-under division at the University of Pittsburgh last weekend.She will also compete in the 100 breaststroke, 50 and 100 freestyles and the 50 and 100 backstrokes against athletes from 12 states.
