FRANKFURT, Germany - Germany's biggest soccer scandal in more than 30 years deepened Friday when four people were arrested and a newspaper reported that a referee told prosecutors he was paid more than $65,000 to fix games.

The referee, Robert Hoyzer, admitted getting money for rigging three games and also implicated players and other refs, the newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung said.

Soccer's governing body urged the German federation to resolve the scandal, which comes with the World Cup in Germany just more than a year away.

LA QUINTA, Calif. - Joe Ogilvie shot a 6-under 66 Friday to go to 23 under in the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.Ogilvie had a two-shot lead over Australian Peter Lonard (64) with 36 holes remaining.

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Trail Blazers forward Darius Miles was suspended by the team for two games Friday after an argument with coach Maurice Cheeks during a film session the day before.The Blazers suspended Miles for conduct detrimental to the team and insubordination. Without him, Portland beat the Los Angeles Clippers 90-86 Friday night.Miles, who signed a six-year, $48 million contract with the Blazers in the offseason, will also sit out Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center.

LOS ANGELES - The New Jersey Nets claimed center Elden Campbell off waivers Friday, two days after he was released by the Utah Jazz.Campbell, a 16-year veteran who won an NBA championship last year with the Detroit Pistons, spent his first nine seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers before he was traded to the Charlotte Hornets during the 1998-99 campaign. He later played for Seattle before signing with Detroit prior to last season.Campbell averaged 4.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 21 games for the Pistons this season. The sleepy-eyed 7-footer was traded to Utah on Jan. 21 for point guard Carlos Arroyo and a first-round draft pick.

KAHUKU, Hawaii - Hale Irwin got off to a fast start in his bid for a fifth straight victory at the Turtle Bay Championship Friday, shooting a 5-under 67 for a share of the first-round lead in the first full-field Champions Tour event of the year.The 59-year-old Irwin, seeking his sixth overall victory in the event, was tied with Keith Fergus, Gil Morgan and Allen Doyle.
