The second annual R. Jay Sigel Match Play Championship will be held May 2 to 4 at Olde Stonewall Golf Course in Ellwood City.
This amateur event was added to the Pennsylvania Golf Association calendar last year and is limited to 32 golfers, including the host facility's club champion.
The first two rounds of competition will be May 2, the quarterfinals and semifinals are May 3 with the 18-hole final May 4. Unionville High School junior Kyle Davis defeated Penn State University junior Greg Pieczynski, 5 & 4, in last year's inaugural event.
Entries are available on the Pennsylvania Golf Association's web site at www.pagolf.org. Deadline is April 20.

Grove City College junior tennis player Brent Moon was named President's Athletic Conference Player of the Week.Moon went 4-0 in No. 1 singles and 4-0 in No. 1 doubles. He lost only one set in four singles matches.

BRADENTON, Fla. - Right-hander Albie Lopez pulled himself out of the running for a spot on the Pittsburgh Pirates' pitching staff by leaving camp Wednesday and was subsequently released.Lopez allowed one run and six hits in seven innings in three exhibition games, but hadn't pitched since March 11 because of a right calf injury.Manager Lloyd McClendon said earlier this week that Lopez, 33, no longer was competing for the No. 5 spot in the rotation because of his inactivity. Lopez wasn't interested in going to Triple-A Indianapolis on anything but an injury rehabilitation assignment.The Pirates would not add him to their 40-man roster to do that.
INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana's Reggie Miller, who electrified the near-sellout crowd with an old-fashioned 3-pointer Wednesday, finished with 21 points and became the 13th player in NBA history to top 25,000 career points as he pushed the Pacers past San Antonio 100-93.Miller, who will retire after this season, has looked like anything but someone playing out the end of his remarkable 18-year career."It's a nice accomplishment, obviously, to do it in front of the home crowd," Miller said. "But more importantly, it keeps us in the playoff hunt."
