The Buick Scramble, which was held last Sunday at Oakview Golf Club in Slippery Rock, has announced its tournament winners.

In the gross division, which was won in a playoff, Jerry Patterson, Geoff Patterson, Rich Goldinger and Joe Matson were the winning foursome. They won in a playoff over Mike Hnath, Scott Balson, Mike Gentile and Phil Krivacek.

In the net division, Max Weeks, Jeff Renno, Tom Kamerer and Tim Nunes won over the runner-up foursome of the gross division.

The winners of each division advance to the sectional qualifier, with the chance to qualify for the national championships at Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Fla.

Slippery Rock University men's track and field standout Preston Gibbs was a recipient of the PSAC's Spring Top 10 Award.Gibbs also received the honor during the winter season and is one of the top candidates for the conference's Male Scholar Athlete of the Year.The Top 10 Awards recognizes student athletes who distinguish themselves in the classroom as well as in competition. Gibbs caries a 3.86 GPA as a business major. He won the outdoor title in the triple jump in May.In other track news, Eric Novick, a state champion sprinter from Wheeling, W.Va., has signed a letter-of-intent to join the SRU program.Novick won the 110-meter hurdles and 300 hurdles this past spring in Class A. He was third in the 200 and led the 800-meter relay team to a first-place medal.
