Butler resident Matt Clement failed to get out of the third inning Saturday in the Boston Red Sox' 7-4 loss to the New York Yankees at Fenway Park.

The right-hander tossed two scoreless innings before being charged with six earned runs in the third. He threw 2

innings, allowing five hits and five walks while striking out four.

Clement slipped to 10-3 on the year with the loss.

ENDICOTT, N.Y. - Jason Bohn won his first PGA Tour event, closing with a second straight 6-under 66 for a one-stroke victory and a tournament record total at the B.C. Open on Sunday.Bohn finished with a 24-under 264 in becoming the 13th player to make this tournament his first triumph.The previous tournament record in relation to par was 22 under, set in 2001 by Jeff Sluman and Paul Gow. The tournament record score was 265 by Calvin Peete in 1982. He finished at 19 under when the course at the En-Joie Golf Club played to a par of 71.

LEBANON, Ohio - Clay Ogden, who beat Michelle Wie in the quarterfinals of the U.S. men's Public Links Championship, won the title Saturday with a 1-up victory over Martin Ureta.

LAS VEGAS - Jermain Taylor beat Bernard Hopkins in Saturday night's undisputed middleweight title bout.Hopkins had won a record 20 consecutive defenses, but he started slowly and only got to Taylor late in the fight. By then, the undefeated challenger had built up a big enough lead on two judges' scorecards to take the crown.

GLADEVILLE, Tenn. - Dario Franchitti dipped inside Patrick Carpentier on Saturday night with seven laps to go and won the Firestone Indy 200.Sam Hornish Jr. finished second.

LOUDON, N.H. - Points leader Martin Truex Jr. held off Carl Edwards on the final lap for his fifth victory of the season in a caution-filled NASCAR Busch series race Saturday at New Hampshire International Speedway.

MODENA, Italy - Anna Smashnova won her 10th career title when Tathiana Garbin retired with sunstroke during a first-set tiebreaker in the final of the Modena International on Sunday.The No. 5 seed from Israel was leading the tiebreaker 3-0 when the unseeded Garbin asked for a break in play and collapsed on a bench.Grimacing from cramps and nearly fainting, Garbin was treated by the tournament doctor and then carried on a stretcher to the club's infirmary.
