TORONTO - Boston pitcher Matt Clement (13-5) gave up six runs and six hits in six innings, dropping to 0-2 with a 8.60 ERA in three starts this year against the Blue Jays, in Toronto's 9-3 victory over the Red Sox Tuesday.
"I had one inexcusable inning. It's not fun being down 5-0," the Butler native said about surrendering those runs in the second inning.
Boston's AL East lead over the second-place New York Yankees was cut to 2½ games with another disappointing loss to Toronto, which is 72-72.
Slippery Rock University women's soccer midfielder Meghan McGrath was named the PSAC West Division Athlete of the Week.McGrath, a redshirt sophomore, scored both goals in a 2-1 victory over Lock Haven Sept. 6. The goals came in McGrath's first game back after being sidelined for more than a year after knee surgery.
