ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves clinched their 14th straight division title Tuesday, thanks to Philadelphia’s loss to the New York Mets.

The Braves began their record-setting streak in 1991 — when they were in the NL West.

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — The desperate New York Jets brought back 41-year-old Vinny Testaverde Tuesday after starting quarterback Chad Pennington and his backup, Jay Fiedler, were lost for the season with shoulder injuries.In turning to Testaverde, who played for the Jets from 1998-2003, the team hopes he can back up untested third-stringer Brooks Bollinger, who is scheduled to start Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

Slippery Rock State College graduate Joseph A. Quinlan Jr. has been named director of athletics and recreational services at Seton Hall University.Quinlan served seven years as deputy director of athletics at Rutgers University before accepting the position at Seton Hall.Quinlan worked for the Pirates athletic department from 1985 to 1989 as an assistant sports information director and then as assistant director of athletics.The 46-year-old native of Allegany, N.Y., graduated from Slippery Rock State College in 1980 with a degree in allied health and earned a master’s degree in health, physical education and recreation from Ohio State University in 1983.
