NEW YORK — Roger Clemens was among the final seven players to file for free agency Thursday night.
The seven-time Cy Young Award winner, who has spent the last two seasons with the Houston Astros, hasn't said whether he plans to pitch in 2006.
He went 18-4 for the Astros in 2004, winning his last Cy Young Award, then became a free agent and re-signed with Houston for $18,000,022 — the final $22 matching his uniform number. The 43-year-old right-hander was 13-8 with a major league-best 1.87 ERA this season, helping the Astros reach the World Series for the first time.
Also filing on the final day were Boston first baseman John Olerud, Los Angeles Angels designated hitter Tim Salmon, Houston pitcher Russ Springer, Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Wilson Alvarez and New York Mets pitchers Felix Heredia and Shingo Takatsu.
LOS ANGELES — The NFL and city officials have reached a preliminary agreement on terms to bring a team back to the Los Angeles Coliseum.Commissioner Paul Tagliabue didn't identify a potential tenant or speculate when Los Angeles might get the team.The Los Angeles area, the second-largest television market in the country, has been without an NFL team since the Raiders moved from the Coliseum back to Oakland and the Rams moved from Anaheim to St. Louis before the 1995 season.

MEXICO CITY — The WBC voted to give its heavyweight title to Hasim Rahman Thursday, one day after champion Vitali Klitschko announced his retirement.Five days ago, Klitschko, facing a six-month recovery after tearing a ligament in his right knee, pulled out of a title defense against Rahman in Las Vegas. He hurt his knee while sparring last week in preparation for the bout.The 34-year-old Klitschko retired because of his injuries, noting in a statement that "I've been fighting injuries recently more than facing rivals in the ring."
SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) — Mike Tyson was questioned by police Thursday after a television cameraman accused the former heavyweight champion of assaulting him outside a nightclub.Tyson could face charges of assault and destruction of property, police spokeswoman Kelly Pinheiro said.Carlos Eduardo da Silva, a cameraman with the Brazilian television network SBT, told police Tyson pushed him and threw his camera to the ground outside the club, then removed a videotape and put it in his pocket.Police said Tyson acknowledged damaging the camera but denied pushing Silva.
