OTSU, Japan — Annika Sorenstam became the first player in LPGA Tour history to win a tournament five straight times, shooting an 8-under 64 in steady drizzle for a three-stroke victory in the Mizuno Classic.

Sorenstam, 95 under in her last 15 rounds in the event, broke a tie with Laura Davies for the LPGA Tour record for consecutive victories in an event. Davies won the Standard Register Ping from 1994-97.

The PGA Tour record for consecutive victories in an event is four, a mark shared by Gene Sarazen, Walter Hagen and Tiger Woods.

MADISON, Miss. — Heath Slocum shot a 6-under 66 for a two-stroke victory at the Southern Farm Bureau Classic.

POMONA, Calif. — Gary Scelzi won the Funny Car season title and Andrew Hines captured the Pro Stock Motorcycle crown Sunday night at the season-ending Auto Club NHRA finals.Scelzi, a three-time Top Fuel champion, joined Kenny Bernstein as the only NHRA drivers to win world titles in both nitro categories.Tony Schumacher (Top Fuel), Tony Pedregon (Funny Car), Jeg Coughlin (Pro Stock) and Ryan Schnitz (Pro Stock Bike) recorded victories.

NEW YORK — Kenya's Paul Tergat held off defending champion Hendrick Ramaala of South Africa in a final sprint Sunday to win the men's title in the New York City Marathon.Women's winner Jelena Prokopcuka of Latvia had a slightly easier time, pulling away from struggling Kenyan Susan Chepkemei as they re-entered Central Park and winning by 14 seconds to earn a marathon-record prize of $130,000.

HOUSTON — Houston Rockets star Tracy McGrady will miss three weeks because of back spasms, coach Jeff Van Gundy said.McGrady hurt his back in practice Friday when he landed awkwardly after a baseline layup, trainer Keith Jones said.

LAS VEGAS — Vitali Klitschko's heavyweight title defense next Saturday against Hasim Rahman is off because of a knee injury suffered by the champion in training.Promoter Bob Arum said Saturday that a new date for the fight would be announced this week.
