Moniteau junior Adam Cousins has been named District 9 Kicker-Return Specialist of the Year by d9sports.com.
Cousins kicked three field goals this season, was 26-of-30 on PATs and returned a kickoff for a touchdown in the playoffs.
He shared the honor with kicker-punter Caleb Morris of Coudersport.
Slippery Rock University senior football standout Josh Kniess was named second team NCAA Division II All-America as a return specialist by D2Football.com.Kniess led the PSAC and was fourth nationally with an 18.4 yard average per punt return. He ended his Rock career as the school’s all-time all-purpose yardage leader.
Will Nesbitt, a sixth grader at Center Township Elementary School, won the 12-year-old division of a recent tennis tournament held at Oxford Athletic Club.Nesbitt defeated Naveen Menon 6-0, 6-0; Isaac Levine 6-0, 6-0 and Shane Heim 6-0, 6-2. He is 12-3 on the season.
Tiffany Corle of Union and Sheila Ogden of Grove City were named first-team, all-state by the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association Friday.Corle, a junior, was selected to the Class A team. Ogden, also a junior, made the Class AA team.
