The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team is playoff bound.

Thanks to California (Pa.) University's 69-64 win over Lock Haven Saturday, The Rock (13-14) has earned the fourth and final spot in the PSAC West playoffs.

Their reward? A meeting with the No. 1 seeded Vulcans at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cal.

The last time SRU played the Vulcans, The Rock led 24-9 at halftime before losing 57-54 in overtime at Cal.

This is the first playoff berth for the SRU women's basketball program since the 2001-02 season.

The Grove City High School boys basketball team will play General McLane at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Slippery Rock University's Morrow Field House in the District 10 Class AAA semifinals.The Eagles (24-2) have won 23 straight games.The Slippery Rock High School girls also have a playoff date at Morrow Field House.The Rockets will take on Villa Maria at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Seneca Valley graduate Candice Eyerman was named to the second team of the Presidents' Athletic Conference all-conference team.Eyerman, a senior guard for Waynesburg College, is averaging 12.1 points per game for the Yellow Jackets this season. She has also hit 89 3-pointers, raising her career mark to 351 — a school record.

CARLSBAD, Calif. — Geoff Ogilvy pulled away with an eagle-birdie knockout punch and won 3 and 2 in the final tournament at La Costa Resort Sunday to join Craig Parry as the only Australians to capture a World Golf Championship event.

MINNEAPOLIS — Hall of Famer Carl Eller was arrested for driving under the influence early Sunday morning, according to the state patrol.A trooper stopped the former Minnesota Vikings' star in suburban Golden Valley after clocking Eller going 97 mph in a 55 mph zone on Interstate 394 around 3:30 a.m., said Lt. Chuck Walerius with State Patrol's West Metro office.Eller refused blood alcohol tests and was held in the Hennepin County jail until he was bailed out in the afternoon. He was charged with fourth-degree driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, Walerius said.
