Ron Henry and Tom Fry of the Butler County Bowling Association lead the scratch doubles division of the Pennsylvania State Bowling Association Tournament with only a few weeks remaining.

Henry bowled a 763 series and Fry had a 708 series in doubles for a total of 1,471. The second-place tandem of Greg McCurdy and Michael Gouker of the Greater Pittsburgh Tenpin Association has a 1,452.

Fry also rolled a 757 in singles competition and stands seventh in the singles scratch division.

MONTE CARLO, Monaco — Justin Gatlin equaled but did not break the 100-meter world record at the Qatar Grand Prix last week, the sport's governing body said Wednesday.The International Association of Athletics Federations said a timing error gave Gatlin a time of 9.76 seconds, which was one-hundredth of a second below Asafa Powell's world mark of 9.77.The IAAF said Gatlin's time actually was 9.766 seconds, and should have been manually rounded up to 9.77.The time has been adjusted to 9.77 and, pending ratification, will equal the record set by Powell on June 14, 2005, in Athens, Greece, the IAAF said.The IAAF said it acted after being informed of the error by Tissot Timing.

METAIRIE, La. — The New Orleans Saints have set a franchise record for season-ticket sales, four months before making their post-Hurricane Katrina return to the Superdome.The Saints, who spent last season in San Antonio after Katrina flooded the city and severely damaged the Superdome, have sold 54,969 season tickets, surpassing the previous record of 53,728 set in August 2003.Owner Tom Benson said that the Saints received "a spike" in ticket sales after drafting Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush last month, but they were already on a record pace.
