The Mars High School softball team will face West Allegheny in a WPIAL Class AAA semifinal playoff at 3 p.m. Thursday at North Allegheny High School.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University junior shortstop Phil Butch has been named second-team all-North Atlantic Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association.Butch batted .379 and led the team with 34 stolen bases and eight triples. He had 32 RBI.SRUfinished the 2006 season with a 34-22 record.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University women's track and field standout Andi Rose and head coach John Papa earned Division IIregional honors from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.Rose was named Female Athlete of the Year. She won the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdle events and ran on two record-setting relays at the PSACChampionships.Papa was named Women's Coach of the Year after guiding SRUto its eighth conference title in his 19 years at the helm.
