Pitcher Zach Jackson allowed two hits over seven innings Wednesday as the Nashville Sounds, the Class AAA affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, blanked Portland 1-0.

Jackson struck out two and walked three in evening his record to 2-2. In nine starts with the Sounds, Jackson, a Seneca Valley graduate, has a 2.50 ERA with 33 strikeouts and 21 walks in 54 innings.

Wednesday's game marked the fourth consecutive start Jackson has pitched seven innings.

CONCORD, N.C. — Scott Riggs and Jeremy Mayfield made it an all-Evernham Motorsports front row by taking the top two qualifying spots for the Coca-Cola 600 Thursday.Riggs, who went out midway through qualifying, put himself on the pole with a lap of 187.865 mph.Mayfield was the final driver to qualify, and his first lap of 187.292 was good enough for second place.
