BUFFALO TWP — The Fab Four racing program scheduled for Lernerville Speedway Friday night was rained out.

Fab Four racing, Fan Appreciation Night and a fireworks show are on tap next Friday.

The Mars softball team and the Grove City baseball team are preparing for the opening round of the PIAA playoffs, which begin Monday.• Mars, the WPIAL Class AAA champion, will face District 9 champion Punxsutawney at 4 p.m. at North Allegheny High School.• Grove City, the Class AAA champion from District 10, will battle Moon, the third-place team from the WPIAL, at 1 p.m. at Slippery Rock University's Critchfield Park.

CLARION — Seneca Valley graduate Mark Van Dyke, swimming coach at Clarion University the past six years, has been named PSACWomen's Swimming Coach of the Year.Van Dyke led Clarion to a 9-3 dual meet record and the PSACWomen's Swimming Championship. His team finished 11th at NCAADivision IInationals.Van Dyke also was named conference coach of the year in 2004.

Setter Shawn Vincent of Butler has joined Seneca Valley setter Daniel Beebe, outside hitters Adam Beebe and Dan Follett as first-team, all-section boys volleyball players.Earning second-team honors were Devon Koehring of Butler, outside hitter Mike Emling and middle hitter Justin Hoffman of Seneca Valley.Earning honorable mentions were Ryan Collins, Chris Falbo and Andy Weiland of Butler, and Nick Androene and Zack Lucas of Seneca Valley.
