WIMBLEDON, England — Andre Agassi will retire after this year's U.S. Open, leaving tennis after two decades during which he collected a career Grand Slam and morphed from "Image Is Everything" brashness to elder statesman.

POTOMAC, Md. — Ben Curtis will have to wait at least one more day to get his first victory since the 2003 British Open.Curtis was routing the field Sunday in the Booz Allen Classic, leading by eight strokes over Padraig Harrington with seven holes to go when play was suspended for the day because of an approaching thunderstorms.Curtis was on the 12th hole with a score of 23 under, poised to break the tournament record of 21 under. VANCOUVER, British Columbia — The St. Louis Blues selected defenseman Erik Johnson with the first pick in the NHL draft Saturday, making him the fifth American to be taken No. 1 overall.The Bloomington, Minnesota native joins Brian Lawton (1983), Mike Modano (1988), Bryan Berard (1995) and Rick Dipietro (2000) as the only Americans taken with the first pick.

Realistically, they'd accept a smaller victory.Motivated in part by George Mason's remarkable Final Four run last season, coaches will urge the NCAA to expand its most lucrative championship event during the men's and women's basketball committee meetings in Orlando, Fla., this week.Jim Haney, executive director of the National Association of Basketball Coaches, proposed the 128-team field in part because postseason bids may help coaches keep their jobs.
Monica Glomb tossed a no-hitter and a one-hitter on the way to three wins for the Pittsburgh Patriots traveling softball team at the Amateur Softball Association national qualifier at State College.The Patriots finished second behind the pitching of Glomb, who as a junior led the Mars HighSchool softball team to the Class AAA WPIAL title this spring.Glomb and the Patriots earned a trip to the ASA National Championships which will be held later this summer in Owensboro, Ky.
