GREENVILLE — Slippery Rock High School graduate Ryan Hays will continue his academic and baseball careers at Thiel College.

He plans to major in education. Thiel's baseball program is headed by seventh-year coach Joe Schaly.

Eagle County League champion Saxonburg will play Allegheny Valley of the Pittsburgh Federation League in a baseball game at 6 p.m. Thursday at Highfield Park.This game is intended to give major league scouts another look at certain players.

LONDON — English Premier League soccer team Aston Villa agreed to a $118.8 million takeover by a group led by Cleveland Browns owner Randy Lerner.Lerner's group, Reform Acquisitions Ltd., offered $10.37 per Aston Villa share, the principals involved in the deal announced to the London Stock Exchange.Lerner, former chairman of credit card company MBNA, would be the second U.S. National Football League owner to buy a Premier League club. Tampa Bay Buccaneers owner Malcolm Glazer bought Manchester United in 2005.
