The Mars High football team (9-1) will play Greensburg Central Catholic (9-1) in the WPIAL Class AA quarterfinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Penn-Trafford High School in Harrison City.

BLOOMSBURG — Seneca Valley graduate Justin Shepherd, a runner on the Bloomsburg University cross country team, placed fourth at Saturday's NCAA Division II East Regional held on the Slippery Rock University course.The senior's time of 32 minutes, 34.40 seconds and his finish qualified him for the national meet, to be held in Pensacola, Fla., Nov. 18. This is the second time Shepherd has qualified for the national event.

Molly Evans, a senior on the Butler High School swim team, was named a 2006 Scholastic all-American by USASwimming.Evans qualified for this honor by competing in the 2006 Speedo Championship Series at Annapolis, Md., in March and maintaining a grade-point average of 3.5 or above.She received a pin for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average for the 2005-06 school year.
